Description
Odor Shield Sealer
Pet odors caused by urine and defecation are embarrassing to say the least. Your concrete just sucks up the odors and they’re practically impossible to get out… until now. Use Odor Shield sealer after cleaning your concrete with Odor Kleanz. This combo, one two punch, will knock out the pet odors once and for all. This is how it works…
How Odor Shield Works
Odor Shield soaks deep into the concrete and chemically reacts with the minerals inside the slab. As it cures it fills in the voids in the concrete where fluids and bacteria hide out. The concrete is now permanently more dense and completely waterproofed. So when your pet desecrates the concrete the fluids will sit on top of the surface, not soaking in like it use to. Cleaning up the new mess and rinsing the area with Odor Kleanz should completely remove any smell from the area… yay!
How To Use
Just pour Odor Shield into a clean pump sprayer… it doesn’t have to be a fancy one. Any $25 weed sprayer from the hardware store will work. Spray down the sealer until the surface looks completely wet. Let it soak in for about 20-30 minutes. If there’s any sealer left on the surface you can remove it. I usually use an old bath towel and drag it across the surface. Or you can mop it up with a dry, clean mop head. A wet / dry vac works as well… easy peazy!
Keep the area completely dry for 24 hours, and as soon as it looks dry you can have full foot traffic on the treated area.
Other Cool Things About Odor Shield
In addition, what’s cool is it doesn’t change the look of the concrete. And it also won’t leave a powdery residue on the concrete like other penetrating sealer do. Plus, it’s pet and human friendly… meaning it’s non-toxic and VOC free.
Since Odor Shield increases the density of the concrete it can be used during the polishing process as well. I usually add it after the I’m done with the lower grit levels and I also add it right before the final step of the polishing for maximum protection and shine enhancement. This is a great option for kennels, pet stores, or other commercial polished concrete floors looking for that extra protection against pet accidents.
Technical Stuff About Odor Shield
Sweet Concrete’s Odor Shield is a non-toxic, VOC free, fast drying, reactive densifying sealer for concrete and masonry surfaces. It offers excellent penetration, increased hardness, makes the surface more durable, and has strong chemical resistance. Due to Odor Shield’s advanced nano-quartz formulation, concrete and masonry surfaces become stronger, and are easier to maintain. An excellent choice for anywhere permanent waterproofing and pet odor protection is required.
How To Use
Use on concrete, brick, pavers, terrazzo and other masonry surfaces.
COVERAGE: Approximately 250 – 300 sq. ft. per gallon. Coverage will vary depending on the porosity of the substrate.
HANDLING AND STORAGE: Close container after each use. Store in original container only. Keep in a cool, well-ventilated area. Avoid freezing or high temperature long-term temperature storage. Keep out of reach of children.
DIRECTIONS:
1. Ensure surface is clean, sufficiently dry and free of waxes or coatings. Drying times after cleaning may vary due to local conditions. Do not apply while surface is wet.
2. Apply Odor Shield liberally using a low pressure sprayer, paint pad, roller, brush, lambs or wool applicator. Distribute product evenly over entire surface to ensure uniform coverage and maximum penetration. *Note: Do not allow excess sealer to dry on surface. Roll out any puddles from an uneven surface.
3. Allow Odor Shield to dwell for up to 20 minutes, or until it begins to dry on surface. Remove and excess with cotton bonnet pad or clean towels, until surface is completely dry.
4. Apply a second coat if necessary, no later than 30 minutes after initial application. This is rarely needed. If you apply more sealer and it beads up on top of the previously treated area, that means it’s completely sealed and doesn’t need a second treatment.
5. Ready for foot traffic in 2 hours. Fully cures in 12-24 hours depending on the temperature.
6. Clean tools with water.
7. For outdoor applications, do not apply in temperatures below 50 or above 90 degrees. During the hottest months, it is recommended to apply in the early morning when the surface is at its coolest.
