In the paragraph below I’ll share some techno-babble for all the people who want to know the features of the stain.
Color Mist is an advanced polymer modified product that penetrates and bonds with concrete surfaces to create a beautiful and long-lasting look. If applied correctly, this product is non-film forming which increases topcoat adhesion. Other water based stains create a film or a powdery substance which will increase the chances of topcoat peeling up.
This easy to use stain creates a natural, organic look which is only matched by corrosive acid stains. Color Mist is UV stable, ready to apply, low odor, extremely low in VOCs, made in the USA, and cures quickly. Unlike other acid or water based stains that take at least 24 hours to cure, Color Mist can be top coated immediately after the stain dries. This cuts down the labor cost of having to come back an additional day to topcoat the concrete. Therefore it doesn’t have to be neutralized like traditional acid based stains as well.
Personal Experience
Color Mist is unlike any other concrete stain I’ve personally used. The colors are much more vibrant than other brands and doesn’t fade in the sunlight. for instance, it creates a mottled, organic look unlike other water based stains which leave a monotone look across the substrate. It is a stand alone stain so it doesn’t have to be mixed with distilled water or diluted in any way. I’ve personally applied around 100,000 square feet of Color Mist so far with only good results. How It Works
The chemist at Concrete Chemistries spent more time formulating this product than all of the other products they carry. This chemist makes the best penetrating sealer for natural stone on the market. Here’s the concept on how Color Mist works so well… He’s figured out a way to bond the pigment molecule to the same molecule that migrates their penetrating sealer deeper into the substrate. This makes for a true “stain” that has penetrated into the concrete instead of sitting on top of the concrete like most other water based stains that are created from paint companies. Paint companies try to create other products and concrete stains are a way to branch off with little change from their original formulas. Concrete Chemistries came at the concrete stains in a whole different angle.
